This rare pair of antique men’s suspenders, dating to circa 1860, originates from France and showcases the refined craftsmanship of mid-19th-century gentleman’s accessories. Heavily decorated and embroidered, these classic braces reflect the elegance and practicality of pre-industrial tailoring, before the advent of metal clips.

Instead of clips, the suspenders feature leather rollers designed to button directly to trousers - with buttons placed to the right and left of the fly at the front, and fabric tabs with buttons extending from the center back waistband. The length is adjustable via a buckle, allowing for a tailored fit.

In good condition, the suspenders show minimal signs of age and wear, with one leather drawstring replaced. Length: approx. 80 cm.

This rare example of 1860s French men’s braces is ideal for collectors of antique menswear, historical tailoring tools, or museum-quality fashion accessories, offering a glimpse into the understated elegance of 19th-century male dress.
